Mirrix Looms are the most versitile looms available. They allow you to weave beads, tapestry or a variety of other materials such as wire, rags or even paper with ease. Mirrix Looms are made from copper, alluminum and steel for optimum strength and durability. They are lightweight, portable and perfect for home, studio or workshop use.
Mirrix Looms are available in eight different models. The two smallest looms, the Mini Mirrix and the Lani Loom, are dedicated bead looms. They do not have shedding devices, a mechanism that is necessary for weaving fiber but can also be used for a more advanced method of bead weaving.
A shedding device is a mechianism that creates a shed. A shed is the space that is created by lifting alternate sets of warps. A shedding device makes weaving beads faster and easier, especially when you're weaving wider pieces such as beaded purses and tapestries.

The three middle looms (the Little Guy, Big Sister and Zach Looms) are both bead and tapestry looms. You are not constrained in how small a weaving you want to make on any of these looms, but only on how large a piece you can weave. Every loom is adjustable in height. (Click here for a size chart.) You can use these looms with or without the shedding device, allowing you a complete range of weaving possibilities. They are all lightweight and extremely portable. The Little Guy and Big Sister Looms can be used as lap or table looms whereas the Zach Loom is exclusively a table loom.
The three largest looms, the McKinley, Joni and Zeus Looms, are geared more towards tapestry and other types of fiber weaving, although they too can be used for bead weaving. Again, it's a matter of the size of the piece you want to weave. You will notice tha the Joni and Zeus looms have double top and bottom beams. This gives these looms the extra strength needed to withstand the tension of larger pieces. All three of these looms are portable enough to take to a workshop but large enough to enable you to weave very substancial pieces. For example, on the Zeus Loom you can weave a traditionally sized Navajo rug. Combined with the stand and treadle, these looms can be transformed into floor looms. (As a matter of fact, any of our looms size 12 (Little Guy) and above can be outfitted with the stand and treadle.)
Which loom is right for me?
We get this question a lot at Mirrix Looms. How do you choose just one? First, ask yourself a few questions. Do you want to weave beads, tapestry, both or something else like paper or wire? Do you want to use the shedding device? How important is being able to take your loom places with you? Do you want to be able to weave large pieces or several small pieces at one time?
If you want to weave small, beaded pieces such as bracelets or necklaces and do not want to use the shedding device, the 5" Mini Mirrix or the 8" Lani Loom will work fine for you.
If you want to weave larger bead tapestries or want to weave more than one beaded piece at the same time, the 12" Little Guy, the 16" Big Sister or the 22" Zach Loom all work great. (If you want to weave very big bead pieces the larger looms would be appropriate.)
If you are a tapestry weaver, choose any of the looms that have a shedding device and base your decision simply on how big a piece you plan to weave. If you want to simulate using a floor loom, one of the two bigger looms and the stand and treadle work great!
For the undecided weaver stick with a middle-sized loom like the 16" Big Sister or the 22" Zach Loom. You can use (or not use) the shedding device and can weave almost anything including beads and tapestry on those looms.
