28″ McKinley Loom
28″ McKinley Loom
When our customers make a suggestion, we listen. And how could we not listen to McKinley who said we needed a 28″ inch loom to fit in between the 22″ and 32″ looms. He said it would be perfect for weaving table runners. We think it’s perfect for weaving anything. Named after Mckinley, one of our all-time favorite customers (not that we choose favorites) this loom is sure to bring you the kind of joy McKinley has brought us.
On this 28 inch wide loom you can weave a piece 25 inches wide and 59 inches long. It comes with double beams on the top and bottom (like the Joni and Zeus looms) for added strength.
Included: Four coils: 8, 12, 14, 18 dents, shedding device and handle, two wooden clips, warping bar, flat wrench, Allen wrench, coil bar and written instructions.
Stats: Weight: 12 lbs Width: 28″ Height: 18 1/2″ – 36″ Makes a piece: 25″ x 59″
Recommended Materials and Accessories:
You don’t need anything except heddles, beads, thread, a bead mat, pair of scissors and a needle to get started with this loom.
Accessories: You need heddles to use the shedding device. You can either buy them or make your own (click the heddles tab for more information). You may want the Extra Warping Bar Kit to save warp thread or the Bottom Spring Kit with warp coils for wider pieces. If you want some extra space between your front and back warp threads, the Add-On Bottom Beam is a great addition.
Kits: Try one of our great bead kits like the Beaded Purse Kit, combine beads and fiber with our fantastic Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet Kit or make a gorgeous Woven Purse.
Beads: Have some fun experimenting with our Mirrix Blend Bead Soup.
Fiber: Splurge on some gorgeous hand-painted silk.
Thread: We love C-Lon! Try our C-Lon Color Mixes for some variety. C-Lon Cord makes a great warp for fiber and bead combination.
Extras: If you’re interested in tapestry weaving, you’ll want a Tapestry Beater (or, use a fork).
Classes: Craftartedu.com Tapestry Class, Craftsy Tapestry/Bead Cuff Bracelet Class
Note: This loom comes with updated clips that are slightly different than those shown in our instructions. Learn about the improvements (and how to secure the clips to your loom) here: http://www.mirrixlooms.com/new-clip-design/
