28″ McKinley Loom

28″ McKinley Loom

5 out of 5 based on 3 customer ratings
(3 customer reviews)

When our customers make a suggestion, we listen. And how could we not listen to McKinley who said we needed a 28″ inch loom to fit in between the 22″ and 32″ looms. He said it would be perfect for weaving table runners. We think it's perfect for weaving anything. Named after Mckinley, one of our all-time favorite customers (not that we choose favorites) this loom is sure to bring you the kind of joy McKinley has brought us.

Recommended Materials and Accessories: You don’t need anything except heddles, beads, thread, a bead mat, pair of scissors and a needle to get started with this loom.

Accessories: You need heddles to use the shedding device. You can either buy them or make your own (click the heddles tab for more information). You may want the Extra Warping Bar Kit to save warp thread or the Bottom Spring Kit with warp coils for wider pieces. If you want some extra space between your front and back warp threads, the Add-On Bottom Beam is a great addition. Beads: Have some fun experimenting with our Mirrix Blend Bead Soup. Fiber: Splurge on some gorgeous hand-painted silk. Thread: We love C-Lon! Try our C-Lon Color Mixes for some variety. C-Lon Cord makes a great warp for fiber and bead combination. I love my loom. I have tried to use smaller looms and home made looms for Jewelry and such, but I have fell in love with the idea of doing much larger pieces. So I tired a large piece on a home made loom and while it turned out alright, the process was not very enjoyable. I purchased this loom to accomplish the large bead tapestry in one go without having to sew panels together. The learning curve is huge. Doing such a large piece is a process from the very beginning. While I am not finished with my first large tapestry, I have to say that I am enjoying it on this loom very much. It was well worth the investment.

The McKinley loom is perfect for weaving table runners and large bead projects. We use it with the optional stand and foot pedal for very easy and smooth weaving. Easy to warp for bead or tapestry weaving with an ample shed. AT first I was intimidated by its size, but found it to be very much the same as all are other Mirrix looms to warp…only bigger with a LONG shedding device. After a few times warping it is an old friend and easy to use. I truly love this loom….it is named after my son, McKinley William Murry. <3
