Hand-Painted Silk Gima Tape Yarn

Sale price Price $22.00 Regular price

We have fallen in love with this beautiful silk gima tape. What is silk gima tape? You might ask. It looks like ribbon but it isn’t. In fact it’s a bunch of strands of silk somehow kept together in a flat yarn. It’s a little stiff but gets softer when you use it. Apparently, for wearables, it stiffens up again after it’s washed. It feels crisp, like linen, but takes dye like silk, which is to say beautifully. You can use it for weaving, embroidery, needlepoint, anything where a silk thread can be used.

The colors in the packages of 15 are identical to the product photos. The sets of 3 and 6 are not identical but close. All sets have a lovely range of colors that will not disappoint. We have a limited supply of silk from this dye lot.  Click on the number in the drop-down to see an image of the colors in each set.

The put up is six yards per bobbin.
