Week Three: Design & Share Affinity Bracelet Weave-Along

Share your work on Instagram with the hashtag #affinitybracelet

Welcome to the final week of Mirrix's Design & Share Affinity Bracelet Weave-Along! Today we'll be sharing some of your beautiful designs and some additional ideas for making this project unique!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their work with us and on social media. We loved hearing your stories and could see the care and thought put into each piece, especially those created with someone specific in mind. That's an interesting thing about weaving something for someone rather than gifting something you've already made: Somehow the love you have for that person gets wrapped up in the threads.

This week -> May 26th: Your Design Ideas
This week we'll share some of your projects and design ideas.

Missed a week?
Week One: Warping & Weaving
Week Two: Finishing

Design Ideas fo Future Affinity Bracelets:

-Not everyone wears bracelets: What variation of an Affinity Bracelet can you weave for someone who doesn't wear bracelets? Here are a few ideas: A bookmark, a hair-tie, a decorative woven ribbon (I am imagining one tied around a gifted book!), a perfect-for-summer anklet or even a necklace.

-Recycled materials: One idea that keeps coming up is using found (that can mean found anywhere from on the beach or in your studio) and recycled materials for these bracelets. Because these are meant to be fun pieces, they're perfect for experiments! Some ideas: Buttons, thin fabric strips, crystals, ribbon, found objects, charms, beads large and small both to weave and for finishing, shells, sea glass and stones into which you can drill holes. Dig into those drawers in your workspace and see what you find that might lend itself to weaving. I am sure you are bound to find any manner of thread or yarn and other tidbits!

-Wrap Affinity Bracelets: Make your bracelet a bit longer so you. can wrap it around your wrist twice (or more!) for a more substantial-looking bracelet.

-Just Beads: You can make an Affinity Bracelet with ALL beads on a pretty warp. It's a great way to make the finishing process of a beaded bracelet super fast!

-Simple Bracelet with Embroidery: We love the idea of a super simple Affinity Bracelet with embroidery done directly on the piece.

-Unique Warp: We love silk as warp, but you could make an Affinity Bracelet with any number of different warp materials. The warp just has to be strong and pretty! Why not try embroidery floss, linen or even one of the fun C-Lon colors that are available.
